New sand for Rothesay shoreline
3 AugustOne of the island's top bathing spots has been given a new lease of life with the addition of almost 40 tonnes of fresh sand.
The beach at Children's Corner on Rothesay seafront recently benefitted from a clean-up after it became clogged with contaminated seaweed.
Now the shoreline is looking cleaner than ever after a team led by Beachwatch Bute rangers spread a layer of sand - donated by Ambriseg Quarry - on the beach with the help of Argyll and Bute council.
Speaking to The Buteman, Beachwatch Bute ranger Sandra Macmillan said: "It just shows what can be done when local agencies and businesses get together with a bit of community spirit."
