New allotments get lottery funding boost!

The group behind the planned new allotments next door to St. Andrews Primary School, Grow Bute Garden Association, have just been awarded lottery funding that will help get the project off the ground and provide some much needed new allotments on the island.
A grant of £9,250 from Awards for All - Scotland will pay for secure fencing around the plot of land at the top of Columshill Place, aswell as a community shed, a compost toilet that they plan to build and also a quantity of water butts that the group will use to collect rain water for use on the site.
It is hoped that the allotments will be ready for growing by the Spring and the association already has a waiting list of locals eager to get growing fruit and vegetables on the site.
