The Discover Bute Landscape Partnership Scheme was officially launched on Sunday the 7th of September 2008. The event at Ettrick Bay kick-started a four-year programme of improvements to Bute's rural landscape. This followed the news in June 2008 of a £3 million funding package which includes a contribution of £1.78m from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
